About Us

Who We Are

The Madison Community Orchestra, conducted by Blake Walter, and sponsored by MATC, is an ensemble of 70 musicians, who are college age and older, from Madison and the surrounding areas.

The MCO meets weekly for the enjoyment of playing great music and having fun.

Membership is open to all strings players without audition, and wind/percussion players following an informal audition, when openings exist.  The orchestra performs four concerts annually, including its Holiday Concert in the State Capitol Rotunda.

Attendance Expectations

The MCO values the full participation of all members in rehearsals and concerts. Such participation helps to create community which enhances our collective experience in making music. In joining the MCO, each of us takes on a responsibility to the rest of the orchestra. If you must miss a rehearsal, please contact the orchestra manager. More detailed information is contained in the MCO handbook.

If you love playing orchestral music, please contact us today.

MCO plays three concerts at Mitby Theater each year and a holiday concert in the Capitol.
